North Carolina Community College students have new career programs to choose from, many of which are considered cutting-edge. Last month, the NC State Board of Community Colleges approved the following degree/certificate programs:
- Associate’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence
- Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Technician Certification
- Lithium Ion Battery Manufacturing Course
- Unmanned Aircraft Systems Certification
State Board Chairman Tom Looney said, “By prioritizing active listening to employers, maintaining agility, and responding swiftly to market demands, we’re ensuring that educational offerings remain relevant and impactful. Investing in high-cost, high-growth programs is a strategic move that addresses the current needs of our employers and positions students for lucrative, cutting-edge career opportunities.”
The highly anticipated associate’s degree in artificial intelligence will be offered by two different schools in the NC community college system: Central Piedmont Community College and Wayne Community College. Meanwhile, Wake Technical College will offer the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Technician certificate.
