The primary purpose of Westcliff University is to offer business education to its students. Programs are offered by the College of Education and the College of Business. Its programs are offered at the undergraduate and graduate level, and students may pursue certificate programs, too. All programs are offered on campus and through online study, so students can enroll in classes on campus if they live in Southern California or attend online if they live anywhere else in the world.
From the College of Business, programs offered include the Bachelor of Business, the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, the Masters of Business, the Master of Science in Information Technology, the Master of Science in Computer Science, and the Doctor of Business. There are also a few undergraduate certificates offered by the College of Business.
Certificates include the Undergraduate Certificate in Leadership and the Undergraduate Certificate in Business Administration. Classes students may take in these, and other business programs at Westcliff University, include Foundations of Business, Introduction to Business Writing, and Introduction to Business Law. Students may also take Introduction to Organizational Behavior, Introduction to Leadership, and Fundamentals of Decision Making.
There are three programs offered by the university’s College of Education. Degree options include a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and a TESOL certificate. For the undergraduate program, the ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with students in different educational settings and may want to work for a non-profit learning organization.
The program is also appropriate for those who manage recreation centers and other sites that care for children. Some of the classes in education students may take include Education & Social Justice, Curriculum & Instruction, Multicultural Education, and Educational Leadership. Meanwhile, the graduate TESOL program is appropriate for current teachers, those who are interested in research and curriculum development, and students interested in working at an ESL school.
Topics students will cover while enrolled include the teaching of writing, listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary, languages, and speaking. Classes on TESOL that students will take include Second Language Acquisition, Teaching Vocabulary, Foundations of TESOL, Reading Instruction, The English Language in Society, and Teaching Grammar. To graduate from the MA in TESOL program at Westcliff University, students must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Westcliff University is a business school that was first approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education in California in the early 1990s. The university is affiliated with and a member of several educational organizations that include the California Association of Private Post-Secondary Schools, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and the Chambers of Commerce in Cerritos, Irvine, and Westminster.
The university also has ties to the California Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages organization, as well as the Orange County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Regional accreditation for schools in California comes from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission. Westcliff University is accredited by this regional organization, which is one of several agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the associated Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
As a regionally accredited university, Westcliff University is also listed with the CHEA and will remain listed as long as the university maintains its accreditation status. Further, the university is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission, which approves institutions that offer hybrid and online learning programs. Westcliff University Application Requirements
Application requirements vary somewhat based on the program a student wishes to enter at Westcliff University. Students interested in the BBA program must schedule a campus appointment or participate in a virtual appointment, submit evidence of having earned a high school diploma or its equivalent, and submit a personal statement. Applicants must also submit official transcripts and a copy of their government-issued photo ID.
Requirements differ slightly for the MBA program in that students must submit evidence of having earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution rather than a high school diploma. For the TESOL Certificate program, students will need to complete the appointment, submit a personal statement, send a copy of their high school diploma, and submit a photo ID. Admission to the doctoral program requires a graduate degree in an appropriate field of study.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Domestic students who attend classes on campus at Westcliff University will pay $360.00 per credit hour for bachelor’s degree programs, $625.00 per credit hour for master’s degree programs, and $675.00 per credit hour for doctoral programs. Online students will pay slightly lower rates that range between $315.00 per credit hour and $625.00 per credit hour for each level of degree sought.
For international students, the rate varies from $450.00 per credit hour to $700.00 per credit hour. The university’s certificate programs are charged by the program, and tuition rates vary from $2,600.00 for the TESOL Certificate to $6,300.00 for the Graduate Certificate in Executive Management. International students will pay a moderately higher rate for their certificate programs. The university also charges fees for some services like a diploma replacement fee of $125.00 and a registration fee of $25.00 per semester.
Financial assistance for tuition and related costs at Westcliff University is available in the form of scholarships and referrals to financial institutions that offer unsecured private loans. Students may also use their veteran’s benefits to attend the university. Students may choose to pay their tuition in full for the program with the due date for payment of one week before their program starts.
Students will ideally graduate from the university with no student loan debt. Students may also pursue payment plans with the university where one partial payment is made each semester rather than full payment for the entire program. Westcliff University has a partnership with Schools Federal Credit Union to aid students who want to apply for student loans.
