Diverse Degree Programs at Keiser University

From associate degree programs to doctoral degrees and certain certificates Keiser has a program for most career aspirations. That is what this university was founded upon, and degrees still have that foundation: to give students a good base upon which to build a career.

There are many associate degrees at Kaiser. Some are offered on-campus only, but most are available online or in a blended format.

The Associate of Arts in Cinematic Arts is a 60-credit degree program that investigates the principles of cinema, techniques of film and video production and more. Because this is considered a terminal degree at this university, credits cannot usually be transferred to another school. There are also associate degrees in golf management, in paralegal studies, in accounting and fire science among other areas. Each of these degree programs prepares the student for an entry-level position in a career.

There are also many bachelor’s degrees offered at Keiser. The new online Bachelor of Arts in Automotive Dealership Management contains 124 credit-hours. It provides students with the skills and abilities to succeed in management in the automotive sales industry. The Bachelor of Science in Animation and Game Design is a 120 credit-hour program that is presented on campus. It contains 120 credit-hours and addresses character development; 3-D modeling; animation; level design; programming languages; interactive storytelling and more.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is a 120 credit-hour that is available in English, in Mandarin, or in Spanish and is offered online as is the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. The BABA contains 120 credit-hours and is available in the following concentrations: Management; Hospitality Management ( which is one of three concentrations in this degree that is not offered online); Human Resource Management; International Business ( offered also in Mandarin or in Spanish); Marketing; Transportation and Logistics; Entrepreneurship and Equine Studies. The last two concentrations are offered at the Flagstaff campus only. Among many other bachelor’s degree programs there is also a Forensic Investigations Bachelor of Science that is available with an emphasis on either investigations or science.

Master’s programs at Keiser include the Accounting M.Acc. Courses are eight weeks long and students usually take one at a time. The program contains 36 credit-hours with core courses like Advanced Data Analytics, Advanced Governmental and Fund Accounting and Special Topics in Accounting. The M.Acc . can be completed in 40 months. It is offered online as well as on campus. There is an MBA in Accounting and one in Business Administration that is offered online as well.

The Master of Science in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a 60 credit-hour program that involves three weekend-long residencies on campus at key times during the program. It requires 100 hours of practicum and 600 hours of internship, but the school recommends taking a 1,000-hour internship (40 percent in face-to-face counseling) to meet the state requirements for licensure. There are 36 credit-hours in twelve required courses plus 15 credit-hours in specializations and nine more for practicums.

Education graduate programs at Keiser include the Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Allied Health Teaching and Leadership; in Career College Administration; in Leadership; in Online Teaching and Learning and in Teaching and Learning in addition to the M.S.Ed./MBA.

All of the above degree options are offered in eight-week courses taken two at a time, and there are no electives.

There are graduate programs in several other areas including nursing, thirteen doctoral programs, educational specialist degrees, and several certificates. All of these are available as online, campus, or blended programs.

About Keiser University

This school was founded in 1977 as a for-profit career college in West Palm Beach Florida. In 1982, it became Keiser Institute of Technology and in 2006 it became Keiser University. Keiser became a non-profit university in 2010.

There are nearly 18,000 undergraduates at Keiser, and the acceptance rate is 100 percent. The US News and World Report ranks this school as 272nd of National Universities. Most classes have fewer than 20 students, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1.

Keiser University Application Requirements

Students applying to this university should complete the online application form through an account in the student portal. There is a non-refundable $55 application fee. Applicants should also arrange to have their official high school transcripts and official test results from the SAT or ACT sent to Keiser University. The SAT and ACT tests are recommended but not required.

Students applying as graduates apply to the graduate school online. They may submit an unofficial transcript of undergraduate coursework, but the official transcript must be received within a month of beginning classes. The school also requires two letters of recommendation and completion of the GRE or MAT exams as well as a resume.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergraduate tuition at Keiser University is $21,008 per year. Additionally, there are student and other fees, room and board expenses, and costs of books and supplies. Students should also budget for personal expenses. More information about expenses can be found on the NCES website.

Students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA form as soon as possible. In addition to federal grants, loans, and work-study opportunities, Florida has a Student Assistance Grant, but it is for undergraduates. Keiser has some grants ( which are low-income based) and scholarships available for students.

Additionally, there are departmental and activity (mainly athletics) scholarships at Keiser. Students should also investigate outside scholarships online. Private individuals, service organizations, and companies often fund scholarships.

Student loans are a widely-used resource, although they can leave students steeped in debt at graduation. A better way to pay for a degree program at Keiser University is taking a part-time job or using a work-study opportunity because these mean also give students valuable work experience.
