The Helms School of Government offers an Associate of Arts in Government that is available on campus only. The program prepares students for careers in government, providing them with a clear understanding of the issues, interest, and institutions of American politics. The program also covers the ongoing struggle between conservatism and liberalism. Students develop an understanding of public policy, the role of civil government and the market. They learn to evaluate the nature and role of government from a biblical worldview and are able to demonstrate basic knowledge of the discipline of government. About Liberty University

The Reverend Jerry Falwell founded Lynchburg Baptist College in 1971 while serving as the pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church. It was his vision to create a college that would provide moral and ethical decision-making skills with a biblical focus. In 1976, the name of the school changed to Liberty Baptist College and adopted the colors red, white and blue in recognition of the school’s mission to change the course of the United States. The school gained university status in 1984.

Liberty University Admission Requirements

Undergraduate applicants must provide an official high school transcript as well as ACT or SAT scores. Those who have earned college credit must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. An essay is also required.

Master’s degree applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university while doctorate applicants must hold a master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Liberty University Tuition and Financial Aid

Full-time undergraduate tuition is $390 per credit hour while part-time tuition is $455 per credit hour. Graduate programs are $565 per credit hour for full time and $615 for part-time. Doctorate programs are $595 per credit hour full time and $650 per credit hour for part-time.

All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as some financial aid is merit-based rather than need-based. Undergraduate students may be offered grants, scholarships or loans to cover the cost of tuition. Those attending on campus may also be offered work-study programs.
