About Liberty University
The Reverend Jerry Falwell founded Lynchburg Baptist College in 1971 while serving as the pastor of the Thomas Road Baptist Church. It was his vision to create a college that would provide moral and ethical decision-making skills with a biblical focus. In 1976, the name of the school changed to Liberty Baptist College and adopted the colors red, white and blue in recognition of the school’s mission to change the course of the United States. Undergraduate applicants must provide an official high school transcript as well as ACT or SAT scores. Those who have earned college credit must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. An essay is also required.
